Who here absolutely loves the band Broken Social Scene? You’ve probably seen these guys before in those band photos, no surprises here since it’s Kevin Drew and Charles Spearin two of the guys heavily responsible for BSS’s output. But sometimes, you wish there was more of their music, right?

Before they were Broken Social Scene, they were KC Accidental (which they reused in You Forgot It In People) producing post-rock in the same vein as their first album, but with a less smoothed-out feel. The music ends up evoking the feelings from late nineties albums, that tired, hopeful feeling that comes with a new millenium rapidly bearing down. If you haven’t heard any of their stuff as a two-piece, give it a shot, especially if you love Feel Good Lost.

Are you ready for a 21 minute freakout that’ll have you hooked the whole time? Because this is one of those.

Moths are pretty cool. Especially when you find out when someone has a phobia of them.

These guys were my first ever concert, with an appropriately sad story to go with it. Fitting for their music, which can seem so lively one moment but droll and miserable the next. I prefer their dreamier stuff, the songs that don’t fit to a specific time but instead evoke common feelings of sad bastards.

Like this song.

These guys were (and still are) a good representation of what indie rock was in the 2000s. I dunno what they got buried under, but it’s time to dig them up again.
